Product Owner
About DigitalTolk
We, DigitaltTolk, are an organisation and company that works to make an impact. Our purpose is to give a voice to those who don’t speak the local language; we arrange translators so that patients can get medical treatments in their new country and communicate with doctors. We arrange translators for crime victims so that they can get justice. Our job is to arrange interpreters through our platform for our customers.
Our end customers are hospitals, courts/lawyers, and municipalities who communicate with refugees and other people in need.
At DigitalTolk, we help thousands of people every day by breaking down language barriers. Our smart, tech-driven platform connects language professionals with customers across Sweden through a seamless matching system — it’s like Uber for interpretation and translation services.
We’ve been recognized with several prestigious awards, including:
Super Gazelle 2021 – Dagens Industri
Future Gazelle 2021 – Dagens Industri
Best in Industry 2018 – Post and Telecom Authority
Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2022
About the Role
Product Owner - For People Who Want Their Work to Actually Matter
Are you tired of building features that no one uses? Ready for work that changes lives instead of just moving the needle on vanity metrics?
We're looking for a Product Owner who wants to wake up knowing their work breaks down language barriers and connects people across cultures every single day. No, really - every day we help thousands of people communicate when it matters most.
As Product Owner you will bridge the gap between customers and technology — combining commercial acumen, customer insight, and hands-on building capabilities to rapidly create and iterate solutions that solve real problems. This role demands an individual who can talk to hospital administrators in the morning, build prototypes in the afternoon, and present strategic roadmaps to leadership by evening.
Responsibilities
Drive meaningful impact — directly influencing lives worldwide, from helping refugees access healthcare to guiding families through legal systems to enabling businesses to expand internationally.
Own the product commercially — meeting with customers (hospitals, courts, municipalities), understanding their needs, translating feedback into features, and ensuring our solutions solve their real problems.
Build with modern tools — creating prototypes, MVPs, and production features using modern no-code/low-code platforms (like Lovable, Replit, Claude Code) and AI assistance. You'll work closely with our tech team who will help prepare your solutions to be enterprise-ready, secure, and scalable for production deployment.
Bridge business and tech — translating between customer requirements and technical implementation, ensuring both sides understand each other perfectly.
Iterate at speed — rapidly prototyping solutions, testing with customers, and shipping improvements in a fast-paced environment that blends high performance with meaningful social mission.
Manage the product roadmap — prioritizing features, balancing customer needs with technical feasibility, and making tough trade-off decisions.
Collaborate across functions — working closely with sales, operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure product decisions align with business goals.
Stay technically capable — comfortable using modern development tools, understanding system architecture, and having intelligent conversations with engineers about implementation.
Think commercially — understanding customer pain points, pricing, market dynamics, and how product decisions impact revenue and growth.
Embrace intensity when required — working evenings or weekends when the situation demands, tackling everything from urgent customer escalations ("the hospital's system is down") to strategic feature planning ("build our expansion strategy for the German market").
Requirements
Education: Engineering degree OR business background with strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn modern development tools.
Experience: 2–4 years in product management, consulting, startups, or technical roles with customer-facing responsibilities.
Skills: Willingness to build — you're eager to learn modern IDEs and no-code/low-code solutions (Lovable, Replit, Claude Code, etc.) to create functional prototypes and features. Traditional coding experience is a plus but not required — our tech team will help you ensure solutions are enterprise-ready. Customer empathy — you genuinely enjoy talking to users and understanding their problems. Commercial thinking — you understand business models, pricing, and what makes customers buy. Technical literacy — you can hold your own in technical discussions and understand system architecture, or you're motivated to develop this skill. Rapid iteration mindset — you ship fast, learn fast, and improve fast.
Motivation: Social impact isn't a buzzword for you — it's a genuine driver.
Interests: Product development, customer discovery, learning new technical tools, and business growth.
Preferred Background:
Experience building products in startups or high-growth environments.
Hands-on experience with modern web technologies, APIs, AI tools, or no-code/low-code platforms.
Customer-facing experience (sales, support, consulting, or product interviews).
Proven track record of shipping features that customers actually use.
Multilingual capabilities (you'll be talking to international customers).
Please Don't Apply If…
You only want to write specs and hand them off to engineers.
Customer calls sound like a chore rather than an opportunity.
You're unwilling to learn how to build things yourself using modern tools.
"Ship fast" makes you anxious about perfection.
You've never worked beyond a comfortable 45-hour week and aren't excited to start.
Hell Yes, Apply If…
You love building things AND talking to the people who use them (or you're excited to learn).
You can switch between customer calls and building sessions seamlessly.
You get excited about seeing your features deployed and used by real people.
You're comfortable with "good enough for now, we'll improve it based on feedback."
You want to understand the full cycle from customer problem to deployed solution.
A Hypothetical Typical Week (If There Is Such a Thing)
Monday: Customer call with Swedish hospital about new feature needs, sketch out prototype design, sync with engineering team on technical approach
Tuesday: Build MVP of requested feature using modern no-code tools and AI assistance, test internally, iterate based on feedback
Wednesday: Demo prototype to customer, gather feedback, meet with sales team about product positioning, adjust roadmap priorities
Thursday: Work with tech team to prepare solution for enterprise deployment (security, scalability, standards), customer support escalation requires product decision, analyze usage metrics
Friday: Ship feature to production with tech team support, strategic planning session with leadership, prep next week's customer meetings and development priorities
Saturday & Sunday: Sometimes work, sometimes don't. Depends what's happening with customers or critical features (and you'll know because you're building the product)
Why This Role Will Change Your Career Trajectory
Full-stack product skills — you'll learn to own product from customer conversation to deployed solution
Commercial acumen — understanding what makes customers buy and how to position solutions
Technical credibility — hands-on building experience that makes you a better product leader
Customer intimacy — direct access to users across healthcare, legal, and public sectors
Rapid iteration mastery — ship fast, learn fast, improve fast in a real business environment
Global perspective — our work spans continents and cultures
Future founder preparation — this role teaches you to build products people actually want and pay for
This isn't just a job - it's a masterclass in product development that matters. You'll learn to bridge the gap between customer needs and technical solutions, a skill that's invaluable whether you become a CPO, start your own company, or lead product teams elsewhere.
Plus, every single day you'll know that your work helped someone communicate when it really mattered. That's not corporate mission statement fluff - that's literally what we do.
The Application Process (Also Being Honest)
We're going to be thorough because this role is critical:
Multiple rounds of interviews (some technical, some customer-focused, some strategic)
Practical exercises — we might ask you to prototype something or analyze customer feedback
You'll meet customers and engineers to see if you can bridge both worlds
We'll check references carefully, especially about your ability to ship and talk to customers
We might ask you to build something or join customer calls during the process
If you make it through our process, you'll know you earned it.
Ready to Apply?
If you read this far and thought "this sounds intense but exciting" rather than "this sounds like too much work," we want to hear from you.

Your CV
A brief note about why you want this specific role at DigitalTolk
One example of something you built that customers actually used (link to it if possible) — or if you haven't built anything yet, tell us what you'd be excited to build
One example of when you learned something important from talking to customers
Don't apply if: You're just looking for any job, or if reading about hard work and customer calls made you cringe, or if you have no interest in learning to build things yourself.
Do apply if: You want work that matters, you love (or want to learn to love) building AND talking to users, you think bridging business and tech sounds challenging in the best way, you want to develop skills that make you invaluable, and you're interested in learning the full cycle of product development in a real business. Don't let lack of traditional coding experience stop you — we care more about your commercial thinking, customer empathy, and willingness to learn modern development tools. Our tech team will be there to help ensure your solutions are enterprise-ready, secure, and scalable.
